Drake Bay Osa Peninsula Costa Rica

CASA DRAKE

Casa Drake Osa Peninsula Costa Rica

The Alemán-Valencia family owns and operates Casa Drake Lodge. This project was born with the idea of preserving the forest in their property and contributing to sustainable development of Los Planes town. Zacarías Alemán, and his wife Luz Marina Fajardo together with his brother  Gregorio "Goyo" Alemán built Casa Drake from scratch.

Zacarías is a carpenter by heart  and he learned this job by living and working in the forest. Zacarias has worked in the building of most of the hotels around Drake Bay. The Aleman brothers together cut, transported, sanded, prepared and built their beautiful house. It took four years to finish it.

The Alemans and Valencias arrived into Drake Bay in 1957. They were born in Nicoya, in the north-west province of Guanacaste. Their parents make the decision of moving  their families to Drake Bay hoping to give them a better life.

In 2010, the Aleman-Valencia family decided to convert their beautiful house into a Bed and Breakfast and offer it to tourists who visited Drake Bay. Join them at Casa Drake Lodge for a unique vacation and a cultural experience. Spend time with a true Costa Rican family and share your knowledge of this incredible land.

Bahía Drake (Drake Bay) is a small bay on the north side of the Osa Peninsula on the Costa Rica southwestern coast.

This bay is believed to be a port used by Sir Francis Drake in the 16th century and the location of one of the British pirate's fabled hidden treasures.

There are kilometers of natural coastline with rocky crags and sandy coves that extend from the village of Bahía Drake toward the Corcovado National Park boundary, about 20 kilometers to the south.

Casa Drake is located near the Corcovado National Park and Caño Island. Corcovado National Park occupies about a third of the peninsula. The preservation of forest and wildlife in the area, has been made a priority in Costa Rica.
